National 2-1-1 Day Luncheon

It is with sincere gratitude that we at 2-1-1 thank the more than 700 guests who came out for our National 2-1-1 Day Luncheon on Friday, February 10.

We were so pleased to share our day with each and every guest, partner organization, corporate sponsor and elected official who came out to help us celebrate this year. Emceed by Frank Urtasun, Regional VP External Affaris at SDG&E, 2-1-1 San Diego honored the United Way for their dedication to building a strong and thriving community. Chief Executive Officer, Doug Sawyer, and Chairman of the Board, Richard Ledford graciously accepted the honor presented to them by 2-1-1's Event Honoree from last year, County Board Supervisor, Greg Cox.

2-1-1 San Diego has been able to demonstrate its success because of the support it receives from funders and volunteers. This year, Dr. Bud Beck, Chair of 2-1-1's Board of Directors, and Henry Haimsohn, immediate Past Chair, presented the Henry Haimsohn Volunteer of the Year Award to Brian Baker, Vice President of Technology at Qualcomm Incorporated. For more than 4 years, Brian has been committed to growing 2-1-1 into a state of the art technology center it is today to ensure that thousands of individuals in our region have seamless access to community, health and disaster information 24/7.

In addition, our CEO, John Ohanian, spoke about the multiple contributions that partners like the United Way, SDG&E, and Qualcomm Incorporated have made to our growth and evolution. Through an interactive showcase, 2-1-1's progress and growth over the year was highlighted by 2-1-1 staff who presented stories about how 2-1-1's programs, like the Healthcare Navigation Program, Military and Veterans Program and the First Five of San Diego partnership and many others are creating innovative ways for individuals and families to access resources and services they need.

We were thrilled to see that many of our nonprofit partners that provide direct services to our community were in the room, celebrating with us, the efforts that we are all making together to help people live healthy and sustainable lives.
