MEG STORER, Chief of Staff
As the Chief of Staff for 2-1-1 San Diego, Ms. Storer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fields of government affairs, public relations, communications and marketing. Ms. Storer joined 2-1-1 in 2003 as the Communications and Marketing Coordinator, helping the agency to create a public identity and ensuring proper messaging about 2-1-1 throughout the community. Ms. Storer was quickly promoted to Marketing and Development Manager, and today is 2-1-1’s Chief of Staff. In her new role, Ms. Storer has become the agency’s keystone by providing guidance and support to 2-1-1’s Executive Team and ensuring that 2-1-1 San Diego maintains a positive reputation throughout the nation.
Prior to 2-1-1, Ms. Storer simultaneously served as both the State Government Affairs Coordinator and Communications Coordinator for Washington, D.C. based American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). In that role, Ms. Storer advocated for State and Federal legislation, gaining invaluable experience in both Federal and State Governmental functions that continue to assist 2-1-1 in advancing the agency mission to this day. Prior to working with AF&PA, Ms. Storer held an Executive Assistant position in the Public Relations and Communications Department at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
Known for her relationship building and ability to make lasting connections, Ms. Storer has been instrumental in building 2-1-1’s current network of funders, supporters and advocates. In the past 4 years, Ms. Storer’s most notable success is the 2-1-1 Day Annual Fundraising Event, which she has been able to grow from 100 attendees in 2007 to an expected attendance of 1,000 community members in 2012.
Ms. Storer was instrumental for 2-1-1’s success during and after Firestorm 2007 due to her in-depth knowledge of the agency, of the San Diego region, and her relationships with key County disaster personnel. Since the fires of 2007, Ms. Storer has continued to be 2-1-1’s primary Disaster Manager and in-house Public Information Officer. In addition to her disaster responsibilities, Ms. Storer also oversees all government affairs for 2-1-1 and works with the CEO to identify fund development opportunities in order to generate new partnerships and revenue for the agency.
Ms. Storer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism with an emphasis in Print Media, and a minor in Ethnic Studies from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
